Currently in design, initial concepts for this modern Napa country house explore a simple “bridge” scheme with living, dining and kitchen spaces opening and linking the northerly arrival and southerly play areas of the site. Operable sliding doors open the space and allow a cooling breeze to move over the pool into the house for a passive cooling effect while providing our clients the option to enjoy sun or shade as the day progresses. Formal entry into the house is immediately adjacent to a shaded exterior courtyard separating private and public spaces. A roof deck with views over the adjacent vineyard to the Napa hills beyond establishes a connection to the viticulture of the region.
