The MAX-MIN House addition strives for maximum effect with a minimum of space. Transformation of the existing living room into a guest bedroom + music studio allows a new configuration of open kitchen, dining, and living spaces along a custom ‘clerestory storage axis’ dedicated to various modes of display and concealment of light and objects through the house. The master suite wing of the addition creates an entry and carport area that maximizes public and private yard space on the corner lot. A custom rear yard deck, stair, and integral exterior dining table and bench provide additional space for outdoor activity. A large skylight with adjacent window bench at entry provides a transitionary space of light as the owners arrive home.
